Program continues to grow with addition of PEAK Performance – Hockey Treadmill

ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (Sept. 19, 2013) – Heartland Orthopedic Specialists’ 14 summer PEAK Performance programs drew more than 200 local athletes in 2013. This fall, the practice is expanding its successful PEAK Performance programming with the addition of PEAK Performance – Hockey Treadmill and PEAK Performance – Hockey Skills.

“Our sports medicine team is dedicated to providing complete sports medicine care, including athletic development, injury prevention, evaluation, diagnosis and rehabilitation, to athletes of all ages and ability levels,” says Eric W. Nelson, M.D., sports medicine doctor at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists. “We look forward to the opportunity to help even more young athletes reach their maximum athletic potential through our new PEAK Performance – Hockey Treadmill and PEAK Performance – Hockey Skills programs.”

PEAK Performance – Hockey Treadmill will help hockey players of all ages develop long, powerful strides and sound skating mechanics. Younger athletes will benefit from improving their mechanics, while older athletes will gain more explosive first steps, power, speed and cardiovascular endurance. PEAK Performance – Hockey Skills will include training sessions for players of all ages and ability levels focused on shooting, stick handling, passing and skating stride. Participants will also work to enhance other hockey skills critical for success, like quick hands, quick feet, hockey vision and multitasking.
