Athletic Training Immersive Experience at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists
The Athletic Training Immersive Experience with our team will offer hands-on exposure to clinical and outreach athletic training along with practical application of skills learned and mastered through your athletic training curriculum. Clinical Experience
- Postoperative Care – Staple and suture removal for patients s/p CTR, TKA, etc.
- Rehabilitation Services – Work with athletic trainers in the rehabilitation setting, assisting with the development and implementation of rehab programs.
- Cast Room – Removal of upper and lower extremity casts. Practical application of basic upper and lower extremity casts.
- Brace Fitting – Fitting and adjusting braces for upper and lower extremities and joints.
- Extender Role – Work side by side with an athletic trainer and orthopedic surgeon/sports medicine physician to provide support and enhance care delivery.
- Joint Camp – Teaching our joint replacement preoperative class to patients.
Sports Medicine Outreach
Work side by side with athletic trainers to apply hands-on knowledge of taping, evaluation, basic rehabilitation of injuries, and game-day preparation in the following settings:
- High Schools – Also assist with the development of emergency action plans.
- Community College – Also assist with the development of emergency action plans.
- Division III College
- Elite Hockey Team
Additional Details:
- This experience prepares participants for diverse athletic training roles in clinical and outreach settings.
- The length of rotation is flexible.
