Therapeutic neuromuscular care, the medical specialty focusing on treatment for functional pain and low muscular function, is now available in Alexandria at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists, located at 111 17th Avenue East, Suite 101. James E. Andrews Jr., D.O., a physiatrist who specializes in therapeutic neuromuscular care, joins Heartland Orthopedic Specialists to provide nonsurgical care to area patients using a variety of alternative methods, including physical therapy and injection therapy. This may include epidurals, spinal injections, joint injections and electrodiagnostic studies.

“I provide patients with thorough and accurate diagnoses and specialized treatment plans to overcome their pain,” Dr. Andrews says. “I’m thrilled to join Heartland Orthopedic Specialists and begin serving the needs of patients in Alexandria and the surrounding areas.”

After receiving his medical degree from Des Moines University, Dr. Andrews completed an internship in osteopathic medicine at Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Largo, Florida, and residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
