Dr. Russell Sticha finishes final term on national board

Heartland Orthopedic Specialists' foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. Russell Sticha, recently finished his third and final term on the prestigious National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners (NBPME).

After having been elected to the position in 2008 by board vote, Dr. Sticha held the position of an active board member for six years, serving three consecutive terms—the maximum allowed by the board. The organization, which meets biannually, is an elite nonprofit corporation that oversees the design and implementation of podiatric licensing examinations to prove competency and uphold standards for podiatric medicine.

"As a podiatric surgeon, I believe it's important to be involved in and contribute to efforts that promote the advancement and continual progress of medical care," said Dr. Sticha. "Through my tenure on the NBPME, I've enjoyed the opportunity to contribute on a national level to initiatives that will ensure high standards in podiatric medicine for years to come, and I have considered this a great honor and privilege."

While he is now retired from the NBPME, Dr. Sticha remains active on the American Board of Podiatric Surgery as an oral examiner, a member of the Credentials Committee, and a member of the Board of Directors, among other professional appointments.
