Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa High School
Thomas graduated from Minnesota State University-Mankato in 2013 with a Bachelors degree in Athletic Training and obtained his board certification as certified athletic trainer (A.T.C.). He continued on to graduate with a Master’s degree in Athletic Training from Western Michigan University in 2015. While at Western Michigan University, he served as the head athletic trainer for Comstock High School while covering additional events such as the USTA 18U National Tennis Championship and Western Michigan University collegiate events. Thomas also was the head strength and conditioning coach at Comstock High School. Thomas became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in 2014, Certified USA Weightlifting Performance Coach in 2016, and an Advanced Certified USA Weightlifting Performance coach in 2017. He has recently helped coach athletes to National Championship medals.
Other experiences include research of “Low Level Laser Therapy on Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness” which was presented at the annual National Strength and Conditioning Conference in 2016. Thomas also completed an internship with Affiliated Community Medical Center of Willmar, MN with the ACCEL program in 2013.
Thomas joined our staff in 2015 and provides athletic training services for the Community Christian School and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa schools. Additional clinic responsibilities and positions include brace fitting, cast room technician, assisting surgeons with surgical procedures, scribing, post operation patient visits, and phone triage. He excels in injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation. Thomas enjoys working closely with the athletes providing pre-practice/game preparation, evaluating injuries, working closely with physicians, and communicating with coaches, athletes, parents, and administration. The most rewarding entity for Thomas is being able to assist with athletes return to play following an injury.
In his free time, Thomas enjoys coaching weightlifting and refining his own Olympic-style weightlifting abilities. He also partakes in slow-pitch softball, golf, and is a big Timberwolves/Gophers fan.
Thomas’ certifications include: Certified Athletic Trainer, Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Advanced Certified USA Weightlifting Performance Coach, CPR/AED/First Aid Certified, Facial Muscle Taping Certified, Orthopedic Technician Certified.
