Sports Medicine

The sports medicine physicians at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists offer complete medical care to active people of any age and skill. From the dedicated athlete to the weekend warrior, our goal is to help each individual regain an active lifestyle and to compete in sports at the highest level possible. So, whether you receive an injury playing touch football, running track at school, or in dance class, you should be treated like a professional athlete and at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists, you will be. Our state-of-the-art facility cares for all athletic injuries. You will benefit from the expertise of our sports medicine team that specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries due to athletic activity.

Many athletic disorders can be treated with arthroscopic surgery, a minimally invasive surgical method that utilizes a camera to look inside a joint along with specialized instruments to carry out any necessary procedure in that joint. Other injuries may respond to physical therapy or perhaps require more advanced surgery to promote optimum healing. In any case, the dedicated sports medicine physicians at Heartland Orthopedic Specialists will focus their years of knowledge and expertise toward getting you back to your game.

Return to Play Conditioning Program

The Return to Play Conditioning Program is a six week program designed for athletes who have already had knee surgery or suffered an injury. Our physicians specifically recommend the program for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair patients prior to final medical clearance to resume sports participation. A certified athletic trainer analyzes patients as they perform multiple sports injury tests to measure strength, vertical jump, and flexibility.
