My Comeback Story: Allen H.
New Hip After Limping for 2 Years
I have been limping for 2 years, gradually getting worse. I checked into everything from stem cells to plasma. I got treatment from 5 different chiropractors and tried acupuncture. I also tried CBD and THC, but nothing helped much. Eventually, I admitted I needed surgery, and I shopped around for that also, ending up going to Alex.
I had surgery on Thursday morning and was released by 2 that afternoon. All went well. Friday, I laid around other than walking every hour or so. On Saturday, I walked up to the barn twice, so about 200 ft each way. On Sunday, I walked our quarter mile driveway once and twice on Monday. These were all with a walker.
Tuesday, I had PT, and all went well. She said I didn't need the walker and to just use a cane. That lasted 3 days. I just didn't like it. By 2 weeks, I was walking 2 miles a day and had PT again. At the end, she had me walk around the room and had the other therapists guess how long it had been. Most guessed 2 months or more and didn't know which leg.
Along with the walking, I've been doing about an hour of other therapy exercises a day. Since then, I've added more miles per day. At 4 weeks, I was doing 4 to 6 miles a day and feeling great.
I am now 9 weeks out, and everything is awesome. I'm going moose hunting in Alaska Sept. 1st for 2 weeks with 2 of my boys. I can't thank Heartland Orthopedics enough for the awesome job they did, and also my therapists.
